History

There has been Christian presence on this site for the best part of 1000 years.

The earliest church building can be traced to the late Saxon era of the 1030s which was demolished to make way for the current building built in 1862. St Giles’ Church was also the Garrison Church, for the nearby Normanton Barracks, Headquarters of the Sherwood Foresters Regiment until it closed in 1963.
