Who are we?
St Giles’ is a lively and local Anglican evangelical church. We particularly serve the local parish of Normanton-by-Derby and the surrounding area in the city of Derby. Compelled by the gospel, we seek to proclaim Christ, that we might present everyone mature in Christ, for the glory of God.
What we believe?
We stand in the tradition of the Anglican reformers of the 16th century, affirming with them the great truths of salvation according to Scripture alone, in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, to the glory of God alone. We understand these truths to be expressed in the 39 Articles of the Church of England, the Ordinal and the Book of Common Prayer.
We are part of the Church of England’s Diocese of Derby and also under the episcopal oversight of the Bishop of Ebbsfleet.
The Parochial Church Council welcomed the 2008 Jerusalem Declaration as a helpful restatement of historic, faithful, orthodox, Biblical Anglicanism. We are glad to be supportive of the work of other organisations around the world, including the CEEC, the Alliance, ANiE and the GSFA – Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches. We are committed to the ReNew Agenda to secure, establish and pioneer healthy local Anglican churches.
We are also pleased to be connected with other evangelicals locally, nationally and internationally including Midlands Gospel Partnership, Derby Bible Week, UCCF, Friends International and Crosslinks.
